I don't understand what possesses a ten year old to do something so heinous;I hope they are able to find out if there was any form of abuse going on in the home which caused him to act out in a manner of self defense. So far he has plead not-guilty under advisement of his attorneys and his name has not been released. His 15 year old sister has been put in state care, it is unknown where she was when the shooting happened. What a sad tragedy.
It seems after todays shooting in Tucson,AZ by a 22yr old man and the recent shooting at another high school recently by a teenage student, which killed a Vice Principal and left the Principal in critical condition.
It seems the youth of today are not learning the value of life, compassion and how to deal with anger. The music and videos of today are rather violent and negative, whether any of this incites the violence we are seeing in todays youth is unclear, but it certainly makes you wonder where society is failing our youth. I hope more parents will be more involved in their children's lives and listen to them, respect them and guide them to follow the rule of law and live as productive citizens in society.
According to the Holmes County Sheriff's Office, a police dispatcher received an emergency call about 6 p.m. Sunday. The caller told police that a neighbor boy had come to the caller's home and said he just shot his mother, a police press release said.

Deborah McVay, 46, of Big Prairie, Ohio, was found dead of a single gunshot wound to the head Sunday night.
Police and emergency medical responders were sent to the boy's home on Route 511 in Big Prairie, an unincorporated community about 75 miles south of Cleveland.
When they arrived on the scene, they discovered the victim, 46-year-old Deborah L. McVay, face-down inside the home. McVay had been shot once in the head with a .22-caliber rifle and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
The 10-year-old boy, who is not being identified because of his age, was taken into custody and transported to the Richland County Juvenile Detention Center in Mansfield. The victim's body was being examined by the Stark County Coroner's Office.
