A three-year-old child was treated for alcoholism at a British hospital. This was mentioned by the NHS, public health care system statistics, released on Monday. He is believed to be Britain's youngest ever alcoholic.
Officials from the National Health Service (NHS) said the child, whose identity was not disclosed, is one of 13 young people aged under 12 years old who were diagnosed and treated for alcoholism by the NHS between 2008 and 2010.

Seventy children aged from 13 to 16 years old had to receive care for alcohol abuse while 106 adolescents of the same age were treated for chronic alcoholism.

According to a European survey conducted in October 2009, the British are the largest consumers of alcohol in the EU. The survey, conducted among 27 000 nationals of 27 countries of the European Union, had revealed that 43 percent say they drink one to two drinks drinks per day, 24percent confess 3-4 drinks, 12 percent between 5 and 6.6 percent between 7 and 9.6 percent admit drink 10 or more.

The EU survey considers five drinks in a row being alcohol abuse, which is the case for 24 percent of Britons in the late evening.
