Naked Sultan Woman Waving Severed Dog's Head Arrested and Taken In for Mental Evaluation

Passersby called 911 around 11:30 a.m. to report that the woman was standing along U.S. 2 in Sultan with a dog's head wrapped in a towel, Snohomish County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Rebecca Hover said.

"The woman was distraught and not making sense," Hover said . . .

"It might be a German Shepherd-lab mix, but we don't know for sure," Hover said. "I don't know if there are any other animals in the house, but animal control will be responding to the scene [her house] as well."

Additionally, Hover tells Seattle Weekly that the woman was at least partially naked while holding the dog's head. Also deputies believe the dog was her own and not someone else's--which somehow makes the incident slightly less disturbing.

She says that after the unidentified woman is given a mental evaluation she may face animal-cruelty charges.
