league game of soccer (or football, for anyone that actually cares about the sport) in the Democratic Republic of Congo, a team of 11 was annihilated by lightning. Oddly enough, the other team was completely unhurt, which lead the locals of the eastern Kasai Province to suspect that some sort of witchcraft or wizardry was called upon during the game.
For the record, it was the away team that got the short end of the lightning bolt, and the players from the home team came out completely unharmed in the event.
Our conclusion: the Gods must not be so crazy about soccer.
